After several years of waiting, Elon Musk announces that his Tesla Cybertruck pickup will finally be available from next year. As Reuters had already predicted.
Will we finally soon see Tesla Cybertrucks on the streets? If it will probably still be a long time before it arrives in French concessions, the Californian electric pickup is approaching a production effect. Good news, as it has already been several years since the latter was officially revealed to the public, without any launch date being really respected.
Admittedly, this is starting to become a habit well known to fans of Elon Musk, who are still starting to get impatient. But now the latter wanted to inform them and give them some news about his new pick-up. And good news, it should not take long to land on the roads, at least in the United States, according to our colleagues fromInside electric vehicles.
Coming next year
And for good reason, Elon Musk gave some information about his newcomer, on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the Gigafactory Tesla in Berlin, a few days ago. The businessman then announced that “ we want to finish development of the Cybertruck this year and be ready for production next year “. An announcement that should then appeal to fans of the brand, while the pickup was originally planned for last year.
A few months earlier, Tesla had confirmed the delay by updating the footnotes on its website, announcing that the configurator would be accessible at the start of production in 2022. A promise ultimately not kept by the firm Californian, as has already been the case on several occasions. Reuters was also betting on the 2023 vintage.
Here, Elon Musk therefore corroborates the information from Reuters and tries to reassure the crowds by confirming again the commercial calendar of the vehicle.
Several versions on the program
As a reminder, the Tesla Cybertruck was officially revealed in 2019, creating general surprise with its surprising and divisive look. Having changed little since then, the latter is still in development and has now been seen with mirrors and wipers, showing that it is finally getting closer to production. Made of rolled stainless steel, the pick-up has a 1.98 meter long bed.
Three versions will be available, with one, two or three engines. Autonomy can then reach more than 800 kilometers on the most efficient version, which then achieves 0 to 100 km / h in less than three seconds.
