The event Chef’s Tablewarewhich has existed for more than ten years in Lyon, arrives for the first time to Bordeauxin the salons of the Hôtel de Ville, on May 21 and 22, 2022.
It’s about a direct sale of tableware to the public from the greatest restaurants in the Bordeaux region, including starred restaurants like The Blue Bird.
From collectors to bargain hunters
“Restaurants regularly renew their crockery. We recover the one they no longer use to resell it to the general public, ”explains Florence Daveau, who takes care of the organization.
These sales attract lovers of gastronomy or the art of the table, who want to buy items stamped with the name of a great chef or a starred restaurant, but also bargain hunters.
Indeed, you can find high quality crockery, especially Limoges porcelain, at bargain prices. The plate, for example, is sold between 8 and 15 euros.
“It’s a concept that pleases”
“It’s a concept that appeals, which attracts young and old alike,” says Florence Daveau, who has been organizing the event in Lyon for more than ten years and in Alsace since 2019.
For this sale, in addition to crockery (plates, glasses, cutlery, silverware, champagne buckets, etc.), small furniture and textiles will also be on sale. The Garnier Thiebaut brand is destocking end-of-collection items, in particular damask cotton tablecloths, usually sold to top restaurants.
For this first edition in Bordeaux, nearly 3,000 participants are expected throughout the weekend. Part of the profits will be donated to the Kiwanis Bordeaux clubs whose action will finance the Rare Disease Foundation for children this year.
Free admission, place Pey-Berland in Bordeaux, from Saturday May 21 (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) to Sunday May 22 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
