A divorce lawyer with 35,000 followers on TikTok posted a video reminiscing about when she was still in law school and one of her colleagues shared a curious take on marriages with men in a certain profession.
Apparently, there are professions women should try to avoid in a spouse to avoid future divorce.
All marriages are different and no two marriages are the same, but according to this lawyer, some professions create marital problems more frequently than others.
Here are the 5 professions women should avoid marrying.
They are, in no particular order: firefighters, policemen, soldiers, surgeons and pilots.
“When I started practicing family law 13 years ago, a lawyer gave me a statistic about the top five male professions that women should avoid marrying,” she says. on TikTok.
Originally, she explained, she thought it was a weird stat someone would bring up, but over the course of her career she remembered it again.
“During my career, I’ve observed my toughest cases, and surprisingly many of them involved men in these five professions,” she continued.
Statistics can tell you the percentage of marriages that fail, but that won’t guarantee yours is destined for.
He doesn’t know anything about your spouse or potential spouse, or about you or your marriage, but it’s something to keep in mind because it’s just something common.
With that disclaimer out of the way, we can get back to tea.
She then launches into generalizations that men in these careers are more “narcissistic” and “controlling,” then talks about professions.
“If you look at these professions, what do they all have in common? ” she asks.
In addition to being the professions of the board game LIFE, she expresses that these professions make these men “gods in their profession”.
An air of importance and power makes these men generally more problematic, according to her, and according to comments on her video, many people have been through similar situations, even making jokes about their current husbands.
“My husband is a pilot in the army. Double homicide,” read one of the top comments, joking that her man hit two of the professions at the same time.
“I worked in a domestic violence hotline and yes those were the mainstream professions, oh and they CHATTT a lot,” said another woman who backed up this information with her own experience as someone who worked in a domestic violence hotline.

Many people thought that other professions should also be added, such as lawyers (how ironic) and teachers.
One woman commented “Maybe it’s just MEN who are the red flag”, which might not be too far from the truth.
Again, it’s worth keeping in mind that these are just statistics and not every man you meet in one of these five professions will be narcissistic, controlling partners, but it’s worth it. Worth noting in case you find patterns emerging in your life.
