In Calvados, the Caen Bar offers every woman who needs it a free legal consultation, this Tuesday, March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day! “We know that many women do not initiate proceedings, in particular because they do not dare to cross the door of a law firm, explains Maître Stéphanie Pérol, general delegate of the Council of the Bar Association of Caen. This action is therefore certainly a means of showing our solidarity with women. But, above all, we hope in concrete terms, by offering free consultations, to encourage these women in difficulty to dare to take the advice of a lawyer to sort out their situation and know their rights. »
This Tuesday, March 8, therefore, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a dozen lawyers will receive free of charge all women who want to be advised or defended in the context of family issues, violence, divorce or custody rights, for example. But disputes related to work or housing can just as well be addressed there.
“We immediately felt how much the defense of women could mobilize. This initiative has, in a few hours, aroused a very good support. On the same day, we had about ten volunteer lawyers to provide these consultations. It should be noted, however, that these are only women, the men having not responded to the call…”, she continues.
